Steve Underwood

Steve has been a locksmith for 50 years. He started aged 15 as a Saturday boy and during the school holidays would be a shop assistant and workshop at E Smith & Co Locksmiths.

During Steve’s work career has done work for Windsor Castle, Blenheim Castle, the Exchequer Buildings, London, along with numerous historical buildings.

He now runs Abbey Gate Locksmiths which was named after the abbey gateway building in Reading where he carried out restoration work on locks and made a completely new lock.
